129.新說明書
When Peter's Dad insisted on buying Peter an airplane repair instruction manual for his new airplane, Peter couldn't believe it!
當彼得的父親堅持要為彼得的新飛機買一份修理說明書時，彼得不敢相信這是真的！
That was unnecessary, he thought. Peter was already an excellent car mechanic;
沒有必要吧，他想。彼得已經是一名優秀汽車機修工，
he didn't need to invest in an instruction manual that he would never read,
他不需要花錢買一本他永遠也不會看的說明書，
let alone an introductory course that he would never attend.
更不用說讀他永遠也不會上的基礎課程。
When he looked at the introductory remarks in the manual, however, he knew that the manual would be instrumental in any repair he would need to make. He was hooked!
但是，一看說明書的引言，他就知道這本書將對他要做的任何修理都有幫助。他入迷了。
Soon he was carrying the pullout instruction sheets in his pocket wherever he went.

Instead of reading the newest car magazine, Peter would reread the introductory chapter again and again.

Then he would look at the chapters that introduced him to engine repair, aerodynamics,

It was a great manual; interspersed with a good deal of knowledge.

And Peter soon knew it inside out! His life was forever changed.

Soon he was involved in classes at the airport that introduced him into studying jet engines!

He went from being a beginner to being an expert on airplane engineering!

His new interest never interfered with his old job as a car mechanic--it overtook it.

Peter quit his job, opened up his own airplane repair service at the airport and made a killing.
