71.初領(lǐng)駕照
When Joey drove the car into the garage he had a smile a mile wide.
當(dāng)喬伊把車開進(jìn)車庫的時候，他笑得都合不攏嘴。
"I did it!" he shouted. "I got my driver's license!"
"我成功了！"他喊道。"我拿到駕駛執(zhí)照啦！"
"Congratulations!" his mom said as she dried herself off from washing dishes.

"Now you won't have to drive me out of my mind by needing to be chauf Teured to so many places!
"現(xiàn)在你就不用因為需要有人開車送你去那么多地方而讓我發(fā)瘋了！
You can even help by dropping off your little brother at soccer practice on Saturday mornings!"
你甚至可以幫上忙了，星期六上午你可以把弟弟捎去踢足球啦！"
"Whoa. I might want to drop by Cal on Saturday."
"哦，星期六我可能要順道拜訪卡爾。"
"Oh, Joey. You know we don't approve of you hanging out with Cal.
"可是喬伊，你知道我們不同意你和卡爾在外面閑蕩。
Ever since he dropped out of school he's had so many problems."

"Mom. You're the one who always told me I shouldn't drop a friend like a hot potato just because they're having problems.

I just want to drop him a line and let him know I'm still there if he needs a friend!

He's just going through a dry spell and I'm sure he'll come out of it!

"I heard it was because he was drinking!" mom replied.

"Maybe. But he's all dried out now.

Even he knew that alcohol was driving him into a corner.
就連他也知道酒精會使他走入困境。
He just drank to drive his mother crazy!

He had to dry up fast anyhow once he realized how much money he needed to live on his own."
無論如何，一旦他意識到靠自己生活需要多少錢，他就得趕快停止喝酒了。"
"Well okay. But be carefull driving up to his house.
"那好吧，開車去他家時要小心一點兒。
I don't want you to get into any accidents during your first week of driving."
我不希望你第一個星期開車就出事兒。"
"I will, mom. I will!"
"我會小心的，媽，我會的！"
