56.隱形眼鏡引起的沖突
"I would like to have a conference with your manager!" John said.
"我想和你們經(jīng)理談一談！"約翰說。
"Everything you told me about these new contact lenses was contradictory to what the warranty says."
"你給我介紹的這種新隱形眼鏡的情況與擔(dān)保書上寫的相矛盾。"
"But sir," the salesman said, you can't just confront the management with your problem.
"可是，"先生售貨員說，"你不能就這樣拿你的問題去和管理部門對(duì)質(zhì)。
You have to first fill out the paperwork."
你得先辦好手續(xù)。"
"That's what you said last time.
"你上次就是這么說的。
I have since consulted with my lawyers and they say that your business practices consist of fraud!"
我已經(jīng)請(qǐng)教過我的律師，他們說你們做生意有欺詐行為！ "
"Now don't confuse the law with this..." the salesman stated.
"好了，別把法律跟這個(gè)混為一談……"售貨員說。
"You bet I will," John growled back.
"我當(dāng)然要了。"約翰怒沖沖地說。
"Now, unless you want the police to confine you to a prison cell, you'd better connect me with your boss!"
"除非你想讓警察把你關(guān)起來，不然你最好讓我跟你老板聯(lián)系！ "
When the salesman finally consented to get his boss, John said he would wait.
售貨員終于答應(yīng)把老板叫來，約翰這才說他可以等等。
When the boss came into the room, John said "Hello.
老板過來時(shí)約翰說，喂，老板，
Now, if you don't want me to come back with my lawyer, please don't confuse me with an idiot!
如果你不想讓我?guī)蓭焷恚蔷蛣e把我當(dāng)傻瓜！
I know that your practices are in conflict with state regulations!"
我可知道 你們是違規(guī)操作！"
"Whoa. Please forgive me. My salesman just filled me in on your complaint.
哦，請(qǐng)?jiān)彙Ｎ业氖圬泦T剛跟我講了你提的意見。
We'll be happy to replace your contact lenses.
"我們?cè)敢饨o你換隱形眼鏡。
Please leave your lawyer out of this!"
請(qǐng)你別把律師扯進(jìn)來！ "
"That's very considerate of you," John replied calmly.
"你考慮得很周到，"約翰平靜地回答說。
"But are you going to conform to regulations so that you don't cheat the next customer?"
"可是你們會(huì)遵守規(guī)則不欺騙下一個(gè)顧客嗎？"
"I'll consort with my staff about that and we'll do our best.
"我和我的員工會(huì)一致努力。
We have always been consistent in responding to the demands of our customers in the past.
過去我們一貫重視顧客們的要求。
I'm sure we will be this time as well." the manager replied.
我相信，這次我們也會(huì)這樣。"經(jīng)理回答說。
"Good. But I promise you. If you don't comply, I'll have my lawyers turn this place into a construction site!"
"好極了。可我向你保證，如果你不按規(guī)則辦事，我會(huì)叫律師們過來把你這個(gè)地方變成建筑工地！"
