Thirty One At The Producer's Door
第三十一課 在制片人門口
"That's the house! You go first!" Nicki said.
"就是那個房子！你先走！" 尼基說。
"Oh Kelly, but I don' t know if it's so becoming to just walk up and knock on a movie producer's door!"
"奧，凱利，我不知道就這么走過去敲一個電影制片人的門是否合適！"
"Come on. Don't you believe in fate? Or beginner's luck?
"好啦，你不相信命運嗎？或者你不相信新手的好運氣嗎？
We've been banging the drum for years about how we were going to be rich and famous.
這些年來我們我們一直在為如何賺錢和出名張羅著。
Now's our chance!"

"I know. But what if we're behind the times and he doesn't like our clothes?"

"Who cares? I didn't begin my diet three months ago for nothing.

C'mon, let's stop beating around the bush. If we don't do something before long, this trip won't bear any fruit at all."

So together Nicki and Kelly beat a path to the producer's door!
就這樣，尼基和凱利紛紛來到了制片人的門口。
When the door opened they were actually suprised that it was the producer himself!
門打開了，是制片人本人，她倆大吃一驚！
Nicki began with a quick explanation of their dreams to be in one of his movies.
尼基很快開始解釋說，她們夢想參與他的一部電影的制作。
It didn't bear up well with the producer, however, and he just frowned and told them to make an appoinment with his secretary.
可是制片人受不了她們，他只是皺了皺眉頭，要她們去找他的秘書。
Fearing that he would shut the door, Nicki begged the producer for a chance.
尼基怕他關門，趕快請求制片人給他們一個機會。
She told him to bear in mind the possibility that he might close his door on the century's biggest starts!
她要他記住他關在門外的可能是本世紀最大的明星！
That made the producer laugh.
這話讓制片人笑了， "
"You two, the biggest stars of the century?"
你們兩個，本世紀最大的明星？"
And he laughed some more.
好笑的還在后頭呢。
"Well, I was going to let your pleas go in one ear and out the other.
"好了，我是準備把你們的請求當耳邊風的。
But before I invite you let me beg the question, do you think you really have what it takes?"
在邀請你們加入之前，讓我問你們另外一個問題，你們以為你們真的有當演員的素質嗎？
Nicki and kelly responded with a loud " YES"!
尼基和凱利都高聲回答道："是的！"
