Man: Hey Sally, I just got the first draft of my research paper back from professor Stone.
男：你好，Sally。我剛從Stone教授那兒拿回我的研究論文初稿。
Woman: Just now? I got mine back a few days ago.
女：現在才剛拿回來？我的幾天之前就拿回來了。
Man: Yeah, everyone else in the class that I know of got theirs back a few days ago, too.
男：是啊，班上所有我認識的人也都是幾天之前就把他們的初稿拿回來了。
Woman: But, the deadline...you're running out of time.
女：可是現在截稿日期怎么辦？你時間不夠了呀。
Man: Yeah. I'm worried. I only have one day to review all his comments and write my final draft. He made a lot of suggestions.
男：是啊，我正擔心著呢。我只有一天的時間看完他寫的所有評語，而且還要把最后一稿寫出來。他可是給我提了好多建議呢。
Woman: You should definitely ask Professor Stone for a deadline extension.
女：你絕對應該請Stone教授給你把交稿日期往后拖一拖。
He should take some responsibility for the situation; it is sort of his fault you won't have much time to work on it before the due date.
出現這種情況他也有責任。你在交稿日期前沒有足夠時間完成論文一部分也是因為他啊。
Man: I've thought about that, but would he think I was being pushy, or...criticizing him for not getting the paper back to me right away? I don't want to offend him.
男：我考慮過這么做，但是他會不會認為我要求太多了，或者...覺得我是在怪他沒有早點兒把論文還給我？我可不想冒犯他。
Woman: True, but it's your grade we're talking about.
女：這也是事實。但是我們現在討論的可是你的成績啊。
You've got a legitimate concern, but it's understandable if you're uncomfortable asking.
你這個請求很正當啊，不過如果你覺得這么做不太好也是可以理解的。
Man: Yeah...I'm in a tough spot.
男：是啊...我現在進退兩難啊。
Woman: You know you could always just do your best with the time you have left.
女：你知道嗎？其實你一直都可以盡力利用好剩下的時間啊。
You're a good student, I bet you can finish it quickly, work really fast and it'll still turn out good.
你這么優秀，我打賭你可以快速把它完成，用很快的速度把論文寫完，而且最后結果肯定也不錯。
Man: Do my best with the time I have left. Well...if I worked really hard, I imagine I might do ok, but I have to be sure to deal with all of those comments. I need a good grade.
男：盡力用好剩下的時間。好吧，我想如果我很努力很努力的話，也許也沒問題，不過我還是務必要把所有評語看完。我需要一個好成績。
