（一）將原文的四字詞組譯成英語的一個詞。

這些詞主要是名詞，形容詞，副詞，動詞。一部分漢語四字詞組譯為英語時只需用一個英語單詞替換就足以表達它的意思。看似簡單，孰不知英語所要求的就是簡潔明了。漢語喜歡多用修飾詞，一大部分四字詞組正是起著修飾作用的。有一些四字詞組前后兩部分意思重復，就只需譯出其中一個意思。凡是英語里的動詞或名詞，已經把漢語里修飾名詞或動詞的含義包括進去了，就可以在英語里把這些形容詞，副詞刪去不譯。

這一切均在鐵的事實前面徹底破產了。

（Explode 已經包含了徹底的意思，所以翻譯時無需再用completely. 徹底破產這一四字詞組就譯成了一個單詞explode. ）

（按字面翻譯崎嶇不平應該是rough and bumpy, 之所以只用rough ，道理和上面一個例子是一樣的，兩個詞表達相同的意思擇其一即可。）
