在他的論據里不難找到漏洞。
在中文里, 漏洞是用來"找"的, 可是, 到了英語里頭, 漏洞卻
不用"找", 而用"撿" (pick)了! 不知你猜出來了沒有? pick holes in sth. 意指
" 找某事物的漏洞, 或挑毛病" . 例如: The lawyer did her best to pick
holes in the witness's statement.(律師盡力在證人的陳述里挑毛病/漏洞.)
其實, 跟pick搭配的習語或詞組還有很多蠻有趣的, 如: pick a fight/quarrel
with sb. 與某人尋釁, 找茬兒( Don't be so foolish to pick a quarrel with
that woman.) ; 當你想向某人詢問以獲得信息時, 你可以用: pick sb's brains
譬如: I'd love to pick your brains about computers - you seem to be
the expert around here. (我想向你討教一下關于計算機的知識-- 你好象
是這里的專家.)
