A French politician said Sunday the US should give back the Statue of Liberty in an apparent critique of President Donald Trump's leadership.
周日，一名法國政客表示，美國應(yīng)該歸還自由女神像，這顯然是對唐納德·特朗普總統(tǒng)領(lǐng)導(dǎo)能力的批評。
"We're going to say to the Americans who have chosen to side with the tyrants, to the Americans who fired researchers for demanding scientific freedom: 'Give us back the Statue of Liberty,'" said French member of the European Parliament Raphae?l Glucksmann on Sunday, according to local outlet France 24.
據(jù)法媒報道，此前，法國社會黨歐洲議會議員格魯克斯曼（Rapha?l Glucksmann）16日呼吁法國政府收回位于美國紐約港自由島的自由女神像，他說：“美國不再體現(xiàn)自由女神像所代表的價值觀。”
"Absolutely not," said White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt in a briefing Monday when asked if the US would give it back. "My advice to that unnamed, low-level French politician would be to remind them that it's only because of the United States of America that the French are not speaking German right now. So they should be very grateful to our great country."
美國白宮新聞秘書萊維特對此回應(yīng)稱，絕對不會將自由女神像還給法國。她回懟說，“對那位不知名的、低級別的法國政客的建議是，提醒他們，正是因為美國，法國人現(xiàn)在才不用說德語。所以他們應(yīng)該感恩。”
