"Look," said Ford, "you reckon this is Magrathea ..."	“你瞧，”福特說，“你推測這里就是曼格拉斯……”
"Yeah," said Zaphod, "and we heard the voice, right?"	“是啊，”贊福德說，“那個錄音我們不都聽到了嗎？”
"OK, so I've bought the fact that it's Magrathea — for the moment. What you have so far said nothing about is how in the Galaxy you found it. You didn't just look it up in a star atlas, that's for sure."	“是的，所以我才接受了這個推斷——只是在當時。可你幾乎從沒說過你在偌大一個銀河系中是如何找到它的。不會僅僅依靠星際地圖吧，這是肯定的。”
"Research. Government archives. Detective work. Few lucky guesses. Easy."	“研究、政府檔案、偵察工作，再加上一點兒碰巧的猜測。其實很簡單。”
"And then you stole the Heart of Gold to come and look for it with?"	“然后你就偷了黃金之心號來找？”
"I stole it to look for a lot of things."	“我偷它是為了尋找許多東西。”
"A lot of things?" said Ford in surprise. "Like what?"	“許多東西？”福特吃驚地說，“比如什么？”
"I don't know."	“我也不知道。”
"What?"	“什么？”
"I don't know what I'm looking for."	“我也不知道我在尋找些什么。”
"Why not?"	“怎么會不知道呢？”
"Because ... because ... I think it might be because if I knew I wouldn't be able to look for them."	“因為……因為……我想，如果知道的話，我就用不著去尋找了。”
"What, are you crazy?"	“什么，你瘋了嗎？”
"It's a possibility I haven't ruled out yet," said Zaphod quietly. "I only know as much about myself as my mind can work out under its current conditions. And its current conditions are not good."	“這倒真是我還沒有排除的一種可能。”贊福德平靜地說，“我對自己的了解只能局限于我自己的腦子在當前情況下的實際工作狀況，我想它當前的情況并不太好。”
For a long time nobody said anything as Ford gazed at Zaphod with a mind suddenly full of worry.	很長一段時間都沒有人開口，福特則盯著贊福德，心里突然間充滿憂慮。
"Listen old friend, if you want to ..." started Ford eventually.	“聽著，老朋友，如果你想……”最后還是福特打破了沉默。

"What, are you crazy?"
"It's a possibility I haven't ruled out yet," said Zaphod quietly. "I only know as much about myself as my mind can work out under its current conditions. And its current conditions are not good."
