"Good god," said Arthur, "it looks just like the sea front at Southend."	“上帝啊，”阿瑟說，“看上去像英格蘭南角的海岸。”
"Hell, I'm relieved to hear you say that," said Ford.	“該死的，這么說我可真的松了口氣。”福特說。
"Why?"	“為什么？”
"Because I thought I must be going mad."	“因為我想我肯定快瘋了。”
"Perhaps you are. Perhaps you only thought I said it."	“也許你是的。也許你只是以為我這樣說過。”
Ford thought about this.	福特思考著這個問題。
"Well, did you say it or didn't you?" he asked.	“好吧，你這樣說過嗎？”他問。
"I think so," said Arthur.	“我想是的。”阿瑟回答說。
"Well, perhaps we're both going mad."	“那么，也許我們倆都快要瘋了。”
"Yes," said Arthur, "we'd be mad, all things considered, to think this was Southend."	“是的。”阿瑟說，“我們會瘋掉的，所有這些東西都讓人覺得這里就是南角。”
"Well, do you think this is Southend?"	“好吧，你認為這里是南角嗎？”
"Oh yes."	“哦，是的。”
"So do I."	“我也是。”
"Therefore we must be mad."	“所以說我們肯定已經(jīng)瘋了。”
"Nice day for it."	“今天天氣不錯。”
"Yes," said a passing maniac.	“是的。”路過的一個瘋子說。
"Who was that?" asked Arthur	“他是誰？”阿瑟問。
"Who — the man with the five heads and the elderberry bush full of kippers?"	“誰——這個長著5個腦袋、滿嘴噴糞的家伙嗎？”
"Yes."	“是的。”
"I don't know. Just someone."	“我不知道。只是某個人而已。”
"Ah."	“哦。”

"Therefore we must be mad."
