Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge
南京長江大橋
For most of its history,Nanjing had to survive without a bridge link across the Yangtze,a difficult river to span,since the water levels rise and fall dramatically and the current is swift. For centuries the river had always been crossed by ferry. In 1958,Mao Zedong decided a bridge must be built,and it took 8 years to get the bridge opened in 1968.
南京歷史上長時期一直沒有跨將橋梁。在長江上架橋十分不易,因為這里的水位升、降幅度巨大,水流湍急。輪渡在長江上穿行了幾個世紀。1958年,毛澤東主席決定在長江上建橋,經過8年的建設,南京第一座長江大橋終于在1968年建成通車。

The bridge is an impressive construction in the northwest of the city. The struclure and design of the bridge are particularly impressive. There are 2 decks:the upper level carries vehicles and passengers and the lower carries trains over the huge Yangtze River. The railway part is 6772 meters long,while the highway part4589 meters long,including the main bridge of 1 577 meters long. The architecture and decoration of the bridge are most fascinating,vividly evoking the enthusiasm and patriotism of the 1960s in China. There are 10-meter-high statues of workers,peasants and soldiers in front of each bridge tower,which is the representation of the culture of that time. The bridge towers at both ends of the bridge are 70 meters high,with the three models of red flags on the top.
大橋建在南京西北的長江上,是一座十分壯觀的建筑。大橋的建筑和設計尤其奇特。大橋共有兩層,上層是公路橋,下層是鐵路橋。下層的鐵路橋全長6 772米,上層的公路橋全長4 589米,包括l 577米長的主橋。大橋的建筑和裝飾風格是非常迷人的,生動地體現了20世紀60年代中國人民的熱情和愛國主義精神。每座橋頭堡前都立著10米高的工農兵雕像,這是當時的文化縮影。大橋兩端的橋頭堡高達70米,頂端豎著三面紅旗。
In order to reduce traffic congestion,the second bridge was built in 1998.21 .197 kilometers in length,it is located 12 kilometers to the first bridge on the lower reaches. Composed by two big bridges over the mainstream and the branch of the Yangtze River, the majority of the bridge passes through an island in the river.After three and half years construction,the second bridge was open to public traffic on March 26th 2001 .It has 6 lanes in two directions.
為了減輕交通堵塞新狀況,1998年又在長江上建造了第二座大橋。長江二橋全長21.197公里,位于長江大橋下游12公里處。兩座大橋跨過長江主流和支流,大橋的主體跨過一座江中島。經過3年半的建設,這座雙向6車道的長江二橋于2002年3月26日建成通車。
The third bridge is a key part in the main national highway from Shanghai to Chengdu. Its total length reaches l5.6 kilometers, in which the bridge over the river is 4 744 meters. It is the first one in China to adopt steel structure in cable-stayed bridge tower of steel box girders of the main bridge's two towers. The bridge is designed to be a highway with 6 lanes. It is now finished and being put into operation.
第3座大橋是上海至成都主干國道的一個重要組成部分。這座大橋全長15. 6公里,跨江大橋全長4.744公里。主橋采用雙塔鋼箱梁斜拉橋,橋塔采用鋼結構,為國內第一座鋼塔斜拉橋。大橋設計一為6車道。現已建成通車。
