1. give up on：對......表示絕望，對......不再期待
e.g. Fortunately you had enough gumption not to give up on your dream.
幸虧你有這個毅力堅持自己的夢想。
e.g. Still, Dad did not give up on her.
可是爸爸對她沒有放棄希望。
2. move off：出發，離開
e.g.A few minutes later, the whistle sounded and the train began to move off.
幾分鐘后，汽笛響了，火車啟動了。
e.g.A small group was seen to draw apart from the others and move off into the forest.
有人看見一小隊人馬離開其他人進入了叢林。
3. as it is：實際上，其實
e.g. As it is, we can hardly get to the station by 6 o'clock.
事實上，我們六點鐘以前是很難趕到車站的。
e.g. I thought he would get better. As it is, he is getting worse.
我以為他會變好。但事實上，他愈變愈糟。
5. worry about：對......感到擔憂，焦慮......，擔心......
e.g. I've been nearly demented with worry about you.
我一直為你擔心，都快發瘋了。
e.g. Don't worry about the grammar, just learn this as a set phrase.
別管語法，只要把這個作為固定詞組來學習即可。
6. look after：照顧，照料
e.g. You needn't bother about coming up, I'll look after him.
你不用來了，我會照料他。
e.g. I'm perfectly able to look after myself, for your information.
我完全能夠照顧自己，特此奉告。
7. live up to：做到，不辜負
e.g. Did the TV play live up to your expectations?
這部電視劇有你期望的那樣好嗎?
e.g. His mission is to live up to what his parents expected of him.
他的使命就是實現他父母對他的期望。
8. go over：重溫，查看，從......越過
e.g. Let's go over the draft once again.
我們把這篇稿子再過一遍。
e.g. You go over that way and I'll hunt around by the spring.
你到那邊去找，我到泉水旁邊看看。
e.g. Before doing your exercises, you should go over the text.
做作業前, 你應該將課文復習一遍。
e.g. Go over the fence, not under.
從籬笆上面越過, 不要從下面鉆。
9. come over：過來
e.g. Come over! Here's a seat for you.
過來, 這兒有個座位。
10. stay by：守在一邊，一直支持，呆在......的旁邊，留在......的身邊
e.g. I'll always stay by the Party and vote for them.
我會始終支持民主黨，在選舉中投他們的票。
e.g. You stay by your dad and perhaps won't come back to Germany forever.
你和你父親在一起也許再也不會回德國了。
