In Western countries, people usually have three names:
two "given" names and one "family" name.

My given names are "Brian" and "James."
My family name is "Smith."
In Western countries, people don't usually talk about "given names" and "family name."
They talk about their "first," "middle" and "last" names.
Brian's first name is "Brian," his middle name is "James" and his last name is "Smith."
