喬治·戈登·拜倫(George Gordon Byron)，英國浪漫主義文學的杰出代表。出生于倫敦破落的貴族家庭，10歲繼承男爵爵位。他曾在哈羅中學和劍橋大學讀書，深受啟蒙主義的熏陶。他是19世紀初歐洲革命運動中爭取民主自由和民族解放的一名戰士。也是英國詩壇上有爭議的“怪人”和“浪子”。德國詩人歌德稱之為“本世紀最偉大的才子詩人”。
