Chatting online enables you communicate in real time with people all over the world.
網(wǎng)上聊天可以讓你及時(shí)地與世界各地的人們交流。
In most cases, you don’t need any special software but your web browser.
在大多數(shù)情形下，你不需要任何特別的軟件，只要有網(wǎng)上瀏覽器就夠了。
For many years, subscribers to commercial online services were able to participate in chat sessions.
多年以來，商業(yè)在線服務(wù)的用戶可以參與聊天。
Now it’s possible to join in chats offered by hundreds of websites as well.
現(xiàn)在人們可以參與數(shù)以百計(jì)的網(wǎng)站提供的聊天服務(wù)。
Actually, the word "chat" is somewhat misleading,
實(shí)際上，“聊天”一詞可能有些誤導(dǎo)，
because you are not really talking to anyone.

You are just typing and reading text messages.

Once you enter a chat room, which is actually just a web page that runs special software,

There, people with similar interests can communicate with one another.

Sometimes chat sessions can lead to truly stimulating a exchanges,

but all too often you may just be wasting your time.
