Wu: Could you imagine? I spent a whole day watching the TV series Journey to the West yesterday.
吳：你能想象嗎？昨天我一整天都在看電視劇《西游記》。
Elizabeth: Oh, really? Is it good?
伊麗莎白：是嗎？好看不？
Wu: It's hugely popular with kids and adults alike. I used to love it when I was little. The Monkey King was my childhood idol!
吳：大人和孩子都很喜歡這部劇。小的時候我也很愛看，那時美猴王還是我的偶像呢！
Elizabeth: What's it about? Is it a fairy story?
伊麗莎白：講的是什么？是神話故事嗎？
Wu: It's an adventure story, based on history. In the Tang Dynasty Monk Xuanzang was commissioned by the Bodhisattva to travel to the West and fetch back sutras. On the road, he acquired three disciples with great might, and together they fought against evil spirits and demons. Monkey King is his first and mightiest disciple.
吳：是個由歷史改編的歷險故事。唐朝時期，僧侶玄奘經菩薩指點去西天取經，在路上他收伏了三個徒弟，徒弟們個個本領高強，他們一起和妖精鬼怪搏斗。美猴王就是大徒弟，也是最有本領的。
Elizabeth: Is that how Buddhism was brought to China?
伊麗莎白：佛教就是這樣傳入中國的嗎？
Wu: No, Buddhism existed in China much earlier, but it became very widespread after Xuanzang.
吳：不，佛教早在這之前就已經存在于中國了，但是玄奘之后，變得十分盛行。
