可可網(wǎng)友們大家好，歡迎做客“布朗尼加分”口語(yǔ)課堂。今天我們要說(shuō)的幾個(gè)習(xí)語(yǔ)都和“understanding”有關(guān)。我們先來(lái)看一幅畫(huà)和一個(gè)句子。

To understand the issue, one must read between the lines. 要想徹底理解這個(gè)問(wèn)題，就要好好研究它。Read between the lines, 體會(huì)言外之意，讀透字里行間的含義。來(lái)看兩個(gè)例子：

Read between the lines when signing contracts. 簽署合同之前要好好讀透合同。

Reading between the lines of job descriptions to figure out what employers are looking for. 仔細(xì)閱讀工作要求，弄明白雇主到底想招聘什么樣的人才。

的確，人不可能什么時(shí)候都把話(huà)明白的說(shuō)清楚，需要我們r(jià)ead between the lines. 除此之外，我們還要有能力get the hang of something. 理解某事；摸清概況；熟悉某物的用法。比如：

After several years of practice, I think I will finally get the hang of spoken English. 經(jīng)過(guò)幾年的練習(xí)之后，我想我會(huì)最終掌握學(xué)習(xí)英語(yǔ)口語(yǔ)的竅門(mén)。

I didn't quite get the hang of his argument. 我不太了解他那論點(diǎn)的含義。

在之前的節(jié)目里，我們介紹過(guò)know the ropes的用法，它和get the hang of something意思相近，表示“掌握訣竅；熟悉門(mén)路”。這里不再介紹。

那么“理解”的最高程度是什么呢？know something / someone inside out. 對(duì)某事，某人透徹地認(rèn)識(shí)、理解；里里外外都明白。比如這種情況：

I know this trade inside out. I've been in it over thirty years. 對(duì)這行我是再了解不過(guò)了。我已經(jīng)從事了三十多年。

I know my students, inside out, just like the back of my hand. 我對(duì)我的學(xué)生們了如指掌，就像了解我的手背一樣。

本期我們“理解”的這幾個(gè)習(xí)語(yǔ)都表示能夠理解的。那一知半解，甚至無(wú)法理解，可以用哪些習(xí)慣用語(yǔ)表達(dá)呢？我們下期接著說(shuō)。
