三十多年來，我一直在想關于L. R. Generson的事情。

跟老公過第一個圣誕節的那天，他送給我一整套狄更斯的書。一共有二十冊，灰布封面，黑邊裹角，雖有些泛舊，但保存完好。每一本書的扉頁上，之前主人的名字大寫而就：L. R. Generson, M.D.,布朗克斯，紐約；只是字跡有些斑駁。
