歷年中高口譯考試筆試階段的漢譯英部分都會出現四字格的翻譯，看到四字格有“如臨大敵”的感覺，很多同學束手無策，更有很多考生“繳械投降”。其實不然，漢語中出現的四字格，很多只是為了讀起來上口，并沒有太深的寓意，我們要做的是抓住四字格要表達的意思，有準確無誤的英文表達出來即可，不必追求“精雕細琢”。
考前希望考生們還是把下面的四字格過一遍，做好量的積累。考場上碰到意思相近的四字格時盡量套用。
（一）并列關系
這種四字結構，前后兩個詞語屬于并列關系，我們只要能夠將前后兩個詞語分別譯成相應的英語譯文，中間用并列連詞“and”連接即可。
名山大川 famous mountains and great rivers
名勝古跡 scenic spots and historical sites
湖光山色 landscape of lakes and hills
青山綠水 green hills and clear waters
奇松怪石 strangely-shaped pines and grotesque rock formations
平等互利 equality and mutual benefit
揚長避短 play up strengths and avoid weaknesses
反腐倡廉 fight corruption and build a clean government
簡政放權 streamline administration and institute decentralization
集思廣益 draw on collective wisdom and absorb all useful ideas
國泰民安 the country flourish and the people live in peace and harmony
政通人和 the government functions well and people cooperate well
國計民生 national welfare and the people’s livelihood
辭舊迎新 bid farewell to the old year and usher in the new
徇私舞弊 bend the law for personal gain and engage in fraud
流連忘返 linger on with no thought of leaving for home
國際局勢復雜多變 the complex and volatile international situation
開拓進取 blaze new trails and forge ahead
求同存異 seek common ground while shelving differences
