Sensitivity shelter The loss of a friend
痛失密友
It was a setback, but Kai knew it wasn't the end.
那真是一次失敗, 但凱知道這事兒 還沒有了結(jié).
He walked back to his shabby shack in the woods,
他走回他林中的 破舊棚屋,
And rummaged through a series of tools and came back with what he needed:a saw!
在一套工具中翻找, 回來時(shí)拿著他要的 東西 一把鋸子!
Then he went to where the sewerage began and sawed an opening.
接著他來到排水系統(tǒng) 開始的地方,鋸開了 一個(gè)口子.
Looking inside he remembered his sensitivity to small places.
朝里望的時(shí)候, 他想起他對狹小 空間非常敏感,
But he erased the sentiment from his mind and jumped in.
但他將這種情緒拋到 腦后,跳了進(jìn)去.
He landed in the shadows of a large tunnel,
他落在了一個(gè)很大的 地道的陰影中,
Knee deep in a shallow pool of water.
膝蓋沒入一潭淺水里.
The sheer stench was almost unbearable
那兒絕對的臭氣 幾乎讓人受不了,
And Kai had to tell himself not to have sensory overload.
凱不得不告訴自己 不要有感官超負(fù)荷.
He began walking down a tunnel,
他開始沿著地道前行,
Remembering the sequence of turns he took so that he could get back out.
并且記住轉(zhuǎn)彎的次序, 這樣他才能返回來 并走出去.
At least this place would be a shelter for the rain,
外邊雷聲大作, 劃破了寂靜,
He thought as the shock of thunder outside shattered the silence.
這時(shí)他想這個(gè)地方至少 可以避雨.
When his sensor indicated that he was close, Kai slowed down.
傳感器顯示他快到了, 凱放慢了速度.
There in the darkness was the shape of the body he was looking for.
他要找的尸體的影子 出現(xiàn)在黑暗中.
It was his dog, King. He was dead.
那是他的狗 金. 金死了.
Kai wasn't a sentimentalist, but he knelt and cried.
凱并不是個(gè)多愁善感 的人,但他還是 跪下來哭了.
He had hoped King was okay.
他一直希望金沒事.
But the fall down the hole had been more severe than he thought.
但從洞里摔下來比他 想像的要嚴(yán)重得多.
King must have died instantly.
它肯定是一摔下來 就死了.
Kai separated the radio collar that shackled King's neck,
凱解下套在金的脖子 上的無線電頸圈,
Picked up the body, and carried him home.
撿起它的尸體帶回家去
After burying King, Kai said a couple of sentences in his memory.
安葬了金之后,凱講了 幾句紀(jì)念它的話,
Then he headed towards town for a session of beer drinking.
然后他走向鎮(zhèn)子去 喝一陣啤酒.
There would be no sequel to their friendship,
他想,他們的 友誼沒有續(xù)集,
He thought, and he wouldn't buy another dog.King had been the best.
他不會(huì)買另外的狗了, 金是最棒的.
