It seems obvious now how we acquire knowledge and understanding.
如今我們獲取知識(shí)和理解的方式似乎顯而易見(jiàn)。
To start with, you need questions.
你需要以問(wèn)題開(kāi)始。
Then, to find answers, you observe the world around you and study the facts.
然后，為了尋找答案，你觀察你身邊的世界，研究事實(shí)。
After that you consider possible answers and test each to find the right ones.
在你找到合理的答案之后，對(duì)每個(gè)答案進(jìn)行測(cè)試來(lái)找到正確的答案。
Although today we are more accustomed to typing a few key words into a search engine
盡管我們現(xiàn)在更習(xí)慣于在搜索引擎中敲進(jìn)幾個(gè)關(guān)鍵詞，
and waiting for the Internet to spit the answer out for us,
等待因特網(wǎng)為我們找出答案；
modern scientists and thinkers are still solving the world's problems with this type of analysis - luckily for us.
然而幸運(yùn)的是，當(dāng)代科學(xué)家和思想家們還是用這種分析的方法為我們解決世界上的難題。
However, in the 17th century when Francis Bacon suggested that this type of thinking was the way to gain knowledge,

he was going against the views of the day.

Bacon held an important rank under King James (1566-1625) of England
