兩者均可表示“救”，save 屬普通用詞，使用廣泛，主要指把處于危險或危機狀態中的人或物解救出來；而 rescue 則強調動作的迅速，指從直接的或迫在眉捷的危險中解救出來。若不細分，兩者常可換用。如：
