The Jumper
跳躍者
A long time ago, there were a flea, a grasshopper and a paper doll.
很久以前，有一只跳蚤，一只蝗蟲和一只紙娃娃。
"I can jump higher than anyone else." The flea said arrogantly.
"我能跳得比任何人都高。"跳蚤傲慢地說。
"No, I can jump higher than you." The grasshopper shouted at the top of his voice.
"不，我可以比你跳得更高。"蝗蟲高聲叫道。
The dancing paper doll smiled without saying a word.
跳舞的紙娃娃只是笑著什么都沒有說。
The flea and the grasshopper decided to compete with each other for the highest jump.
跳蚤和蝗蟲決定互相競(jìng)爭(zhēng)，爭(zhēng)奪最高的跳躍榮譽(yù)。
They invited other people to their game.
他們邀請(qǐng)其他人觀看比賽。
Even the king came to see their contest.
甚至連國(guó)王也來觀看他們的比賽。
"The one who jumps the highest can marry my daughter." The king said.
"誰跳的最高就可以娶我的女兒。"國(guó)王許諾道。
First, the flea introduced himself like a gentleman.
首先，跳蚤很紳士地介紹自己。
"I am a Flea who lives with people. I can jump higher than anyone else in the world."
"我是跳蚤，和人們生活在一起。我可以比世界上任何人都跳得更高。"
The grasshopper with his green cape stepped to the front and greeted the people.
蝗蟲伸著兩只綠色的觸角走向前，向人們致意
"My family is very famous for high jumping.
"我的家族是出了名的跳高選手。
My brothers are all wearing green capes and we can sing beautiful songs as well."
我的弟兄們都有著綠色的觸角，我們還可以唱好聽的歌。"
Then the grasshopper sang a song in front of the audience.
然后，蚱蜢在觀眾面前唱了一首歌。
The people enjoyed his song very much and clapped.
人們很喜歡他的歌，都拍手叫好。
Finally, the paper doll came to the front.
最后，紙娃娃走向前。
He was so shy that he didn't say a word and just bowed.
他太害羞了，一句話也說不出來，只是鞠了一躬。
"Well, let's start the match!" The flea took a deep breath and leaped up high.
"好吧，我們開始比賽吧！"跳蚤深吸一口氣，跳得很高。
But something strange happened.
但奇怪的事發(fā)生了。
The flea was too small for the audience to watch how high he jumped.
跳蚤太小了，觀眾看不到他跳得有多高。
"What? Did he jump or not?" The flea jumped up and fluttered as high as he could, but no one could see him.
"什么？他跳了還是沒跳？"跳蚤盡量扭動(dòng)地跳高，但還是沒有人能看見。
The grasshopper was next.
下一個(gè)是蝗蟲。
He put all of his strength in his hind legs and jumped up.
他把所有的力氣都放在后腿上，使勁跳了起來。
When he came down, he landed on the king's face.
當(dāng)他落下來時(shí)，正好落在國(guó)王的臉上。
"How dare you jump on my face!" The king felt unpleasant and got angry.
"你怎么敢跳在我的臉上！"國(guó)王感到很生氣。
"Put that rude grasshopper in jail!"
"把那粗魯?shù)幕认x放進(jìn)監(jiān)獄！"
The paper doll got ready for the last turn.
這紙娃娃準(zhǔn)備好了最后一搏。
The king said to the paper doll in a loud voice.
國(guó)王大聲地對(duì)那紙娃娃說。
"I can't see the flea jumping, and that rude grasshopper dared to land on my face.
"我沒看見那只跳蚤跳，還有那只跳到我臉上的粗魯?shù)幕认x。
If you make a fool of me like your two friends, you shall no longer live!"
如果你像你的朋友一樣愚弄我，你的死期馬上就到了！"
The audience worried about the paper doll and said, "Can he jump high?"
觀眾很擔(dān)心紙娃娃："他能跳得高嗎？"
"I think maybe he can't. He will die."
"我想不能吧，他肯定會(huì)死的。"
Then, the paper doll made up his mind and stepped to the front.
然后，紙娃娃拿定主意后走到了前面。
The cool breeze blew gently.
涼爽的微風(fēng)輕輕吹了起來。
The paper doll rose up in the air with the breeze.
紙娃娃隨著微風(fēng)中在空中飄起來。
"He jumped up really high!" People were impressed by the paper doll.
"他跳得可真高！"人們對(duì)紙娃娃的這一躍印象很深刻。
When he landed on the ground safely, the king was pleased with the paper doll very much and allowed him to marry his princess as he promised.
當(dāng)他安全地降落在地上時(shí)，國(guó)王對(duì)這個(gè)紙娃娃喜歡的不得了，欣然應(yīng)允了之前嫁公主的許諾。
