President Trump and the British Prime Minister Keir Starmer have met at the White House with the future of the war in Ukraine the focus of much of their talks.

Mr. Trump said progress had been made on ending the conflict with Russia, but failed to support the idea of a U.S. military backstop to help ensure Ukraine's future security.

What Sir Keir means by that is that Ukraine must have security guarantees that deter Russia from attacking again.

He's offered to put British military boots on the ground to that end and wants the Americans to give them air cover, intelligence and logistical support.
