And in the US, Ted Cruz has announced he is ending his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination, after suffering a crushing defeat in Indiana's primary.

"From the beginning I've said that I would continue on as long as there was a viable path to victory. Tonight I'm sorry to say, it appears that path has been foreclosed. Together we left it all on the field in Indiana. We gave it everything we've got. But the voters chose another path," said Ted Cruz republican presidential candidate.

The Texas senator's exit leaves the road wide open for Donald Trump to seize the Republican nomination, whose sole challenger is now the low-polling John Kasich. Cruz had been taken stake in his campaign on a win in Indiana, to block Trump from receiving the 1,237 delegates needed to secure the nomination ahead of the Republican convention in July. But partial results showed the billionaire got more than 52 percent of the vote, leading Cruz by more than 15 points. Cruz leaves the race having won more than 500 delegates.
