　　上一次你聽到了Michael對公司的組成部分做了一個簡單的介紹, 現在我們來看看這些部門的主要職責，還是先看一下 words and phrases吧：

　　上一次你聽到了Michael對公司的組成部分做了一個簡單的介紹，現在我們來聽聽公司里這些組成部分的主要職責是什么：

　　First, the main office, which is located in Beijing, specializes in personnel management, planning, advertising, and marketing of our products. Offices in other locations act according to directions by the main office.

　　首先，他說到總公司的職責就是"人事管理(personnel management)、企劃(planning)、宣傳(advertising)以及銷售事宜(selling)。其他各地則根據總處的指示來行事。 這里specialize in 表達的是"專門處理"的意思，比如說我們以后將陸續講到一些specialized knowledge about business English"商業方面的專業知識"; 另外Michael在講到"按照(總部行事)的時候"，用到了according to這個短語， 想一想在工作中，You often have to make decisions according to circumstances. "你經常要視情況而作出決定";

　　好，再讓我們聽聽research institute (研究中心)的情況：

　　Second, we have a very innovative research institute in Beijing where about 300 excellent scientists are experimenting to develop new products.

　　看來Michael的公司"擁有一個非常創新的研究所，而且大約有300名優秀的科學家在進行實驗　　 以便能開發出新的產品;" 在談到研究中心的時候，Michael用到了innovative"新穎的、創新的"來形容，這個詞的動詞原形就是innovate，如果你在工作中發現效率很低的時候，You should consider innovating a plan for increasing efficiency. "你就應該考慮引進一項能提高效率的的計劃"了;

　　另外對于research institute(研究中心)來說，"開發、設計"工作是非常重要的，除了這里的develop之外，你還可以用design new products, create new products 等等來表示;現在讓我們來聽聽Michael對manufacturing plants(制造工廠)的簡單介紹：

　　Third, we have manufacturing plants in Qingdao, Shenzhen. These plants operate on a sophisticated computer system, and produce our high-quality products in large volumes.

　　這里Michael提到了公司"在青島、深圳都設有制造工廠。這些工廠依靠精密的電腦系統來運轉， 大批量地生產高質量的產品。"，這里的operate 作為動詞在商業活動中用的是比較頻繁的， 主要用來表達"運轉、經營"等，比如說某個商行在幾個國家都有經營活動， 就可以說That business operates in several countries;另外提到了產品質量是high-quality(高質量的)，當然我們也可以說good-quality, 另外與之相反的就是 poor(low)-quality (品質差的);在形容產品的"量"上， Michael用的是large volumes(大批量)，在商業上，volume也可以代表"額，總量"的概念，比如說The volume of trade is increasing.意思就是"貿易額在不斷增長"; 另外這里提到"電腦系統"的時候，用了sophisticated這個形容詞，它的意思是"復雜的，精巧的"， 這種"復雜和精巧"一般都是由"尖端技術而引起的"，所以說sophisticated computer system 是非常合適的。

　　好了，現在公司的基本組織結構已經很清晰了，就等Michael做結束語了：

　　I have given you an outline of our company, and now I would like to entertain your questions.

　　聽聽，又用到了give sb. a brief outline的句式，這里Michael提到 "給諸位介紹了本公司組織的基本概況。下面我想接受你們的發問"， 也許你注意到了在說"接受提問"的時候，Michael用了entertain這個動詞， entertain本來是"招待、款待"的意思，那么這里用 entertain one's questions使人覺得很輕松，很幽默!
