Before Fudge could answer, two wizards came through the castle doors behind him.
福吉還沒來得及回答，兩名男巫從他身后的城堡大門里走了出來。
One was so ancient he appeared to be withering before their very eyes;
一名已經很老了，好像就在他們眼前一點點兒枯萎下去；
the other was tall and strapping, with a thin black moustache.
另外一名身材高大勻稱，有稀疏的唇髭。
Harry gathered that they were representatives of the Committee for the Disposal of Dangerous Creatures,
哈利猜想他們是處置危險生物委員會的代表，
because the very old wizard squinted towards Hagrid's cabin and said in a feeble voice,
因為那很老的男巫瞇著眼看海格的小屋，還用軟弱的聲音說：
'Dear, dear, I'm getting too old for this ... two o'clock, isn't it, Fudge?'
“哎喲，哎喲，我太老了。不能做這樣的事了……兩點鐘。是不是，福吉？”
The black-moustached man was fingering something in his belt;
有黑唇髭的男子在他的皮帶里用手指觸摸著什么東西。
Harry looked and saw that he was running one broad thumb along the blade of a shining axe.
哈利看了一下，發現他在用大拇指撫摸著一把發亮的斧頭的刃。
Ron opened his mouth to say something, but Hermione nudged him hard in the ribs and jerked her head towards the Entrance Hall.
羅恩張嘴要說什么，但是赫敏用力戳他的肋骨，還把他的腦袋扭到前廳那個方向。
'Why'd you stop me?' said Ron angrily, as they entered the Great Hall for lunch.
“為什么不讓我說話？”羅恩惱怒地問，這時他們進了餐廳準備吃飯。
'Did you see them? They've even got the axe ready! This isn't justice!'
“你沒看見他們嗎？他們連斧頭都準備好了！這不公平！”
'Ron, your dad works for the Ministry. You can't go saying things like that to his boss!'
“羅恩，你爸在魔法部工作。你可不能對他的上司說這種話！”
said Hermione, but she, too, looked very upset.
赫敏說。但是她也顯得很沮喪。
'As long as Hagrid keeps his head this time, and argues his case properly, they can't possibly execute Buckbeak ...'
“這次只要海格頭腦清醒，為這個案子說話恰當，他們就不會殺掉巴克比克……”
But Harry could tell Hermione didn't really believe what she was saying.
但是哈利能夠看出赫敏并不真正相信自己的話。
All around them, people were talking excitedly as they ate their lunch, happily anticipating the end of exams that afternoon,
在他們周圍，人們吃午飯時都在興奮地談論著，快樂地預測當天下午的考試結果，
but Harry, Ron and Hermione, lost in worry about Hagrid and Buckbeak, didn't join in.
但是哈利、羅恩和赫敏一味擔心著海格和巴克比克，沒有參加這樣的談論。
