第11章 為平等而不懈努力
I began this book by acknowledging that women in the developed world are better off than ever, but the goal of true equality still eludes us.
從這本書一開始我就提到，發(fā)達國家的女性現(xiàn)狀好過以往任何時候，但我們距離真正的平等這個目標(biāo)還很遙遠(yuǎn)。
So how do we move forward?
那么應(yīng)該如何往前推進呢？
First, we must decide that true equality is long overdue and will be achieved only when more women rise to the top of every government and every industry.
首先，我們必須認(rèn)識到，真正的平等是長久以來人們所期待的，只有更多女性進入政府各部門和各行業(yè)的高層，這個目標(biāo)才會實現(xiàn)。
Then we have to do the hard work of getting there.
其次，我們要為進入組織高層而不懈努力。
All of us—men and women alike—have to understand and acknowledge how stereotypes and biases cloud our beliefs and perpetuate the status quo.
所有人，不管男性還是女性，都必須理解并承認(rèn)，舊觀念和成見遮蔽著我們的信念，讓我們停滯不前。
Instead of ignoring our differences, we need to accept and transcend them.
我們不是要忽視差異，而是要接受并跨越它們。
For decades, we have focused on giving women the choice to work inside or outside the home.
幾十年來，我們總在關(guān)注女性應(yīng)該選擇在家還是在外工作，
We have celebrated the fact that women have the right to make this decision, and rightly so.
我們因為女性有這樣的選擇權(quán)而歡呼雀躍。
But we have to ask ourselves if we have become so focused on supporting personal choices that we're failing to encourage women to aspire to leadership.
這樣做并沒有錯，但我們得問問自己，是不是過分地關(guān)注了女性的個人選擇，而沒能鼓勵她們?nèi)グl(fā)展自己的領(lǐng)導(dǎo)力呢？
It is time to cheer on girls and women who want to sit at the table, seek challenges, and lean in to their careers.
是時候鼓勵那些想要“往桌前坐”、敢于尋求挑戰(zhàn)、追求事業(yè)成功的女性勇敢往前沖了。
Today, despite all of the gains we have made, neither men nor women have real choice.
今天，盡管社會已經(jīng)有了很大的發(fā)展，但無論男性還是女性，都很難做出真正的選擇。
