Other people took theirs out, too; some, like Harry, had belted their book shut;
別的人也拿出書來；有些人像哈利那樣，也把他們的書捆好了；
others had crammed them inside tight bags or clamped them together with bullclips.

'Hasn' — hasn' anyone bin able ter open their books?' said Hagrid, looking crestfallen.
“沒有——沒有人能夠打開這本書嗎？”海格說道，看上去垂頭喪氣的。
The class all shook their heads.
全班學生都搖頭。
'Yeh've got ter stroke 'em,' said Hagrid, as though this was the most obvious thing in the world.
“必須捋捋這些書。”海格說，好像這是世界上最明白不過的事了，
'Look ...' He took Hermione's copy and ripped off the Spellotape that bound it.
“看……”他拿過赫敏的書，撕掉捆住書的膠紙。
The book tried to bite, but Hagrid ran a giant forefinger down its spine, and the book shivered, and then fell open and lay quiet in his hand.
這本書想要咬人，但海格的食指在書脊上從上到下一滑，這本書就發抖了，然后打開了，安安靜靜地躺在他手上。
'Oh, how silly we've all been!' Malfoy sneered. 'We should have stroked them! Why didn't we guess!'
“哦，我們多么笨啊！”馬爾福冷嘲道，“我們應該捋捋這些書！我們怎么就沒有想到呢！”
'I ... I thought they were funny,' Hagrid said uncertainly to Hermione.
“我……我認為這些書滑稽可笑。”海格對赫敏猶猶疑疑地說。
'Oh, tremendously funny!' said Malfoy. 'Really witty, giving us books that try and rip our hands off!'
“哦，滑稽可笑得不得了！”馬爾福說，“真聰明，給我們想撕掉我們手的書！”
'Shut up, Malfoy,' said Harry quietly.
“住嘴，馬爾福。”哈利安靜地說。
Hagrid was looking downcast and Harry wanted Hagrid's first lesson to be a success.
海格顯得垂頭喪氣，而哈利希望海格的第一堂課成功。
'Righ' then,' said Hagrid, who seemed to have lost his thread,
“說得對，”海格說，他似乎思路亂了，找不到詞兒，
'so ... so yeh've got yer books an' ... an' ... now yeh need the Magical Creatures. Yeah.

So I'll go an' get 'em. Hang on ...' He strode away from them into the Forest and out of sight.
我這就去找它們。等等。”他離開學生走到林子里去了，一會兒就走得看不見了。
