According to a team of researchers in a new report, approximately 3,577 free-ranging adult cheetahs remain over an area of less than 305,000 square miles around African countries Namibia, Botswana, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
Due to the low number, the team is now calling on the International Union for Conservation of Nature to change the cheetah's listing from vulnerable to endangered.
