'Well,' said Harry, choosing his words carefully, 'it'll be hard work, pretending to Aunt Marge I go to that St Whatsits'
“好吧，”哈利說，一面小心地選擇字眼，“在瑪姬姑媽面前假裝我是在圣什么地方上學(xué)，這是一樁很難的事……”
'St Brutus's Secure Centre for Incurably Criminal Boys!' bellowed Uncle Vernon,
“圣布魯斯安全中心少年犯學(xué)校！”弗農(nóng)姨父怒吼道。
and Harry was pleased to hear a definite note of panic in Uncle Vernon's voice.
哈利從他的聲音里聽出明顯有驚慌的成分，心里很高興。
'Exactly,' said Harry, looking calmly up into Uncle Vernon's large, purple face.
“正是，”哈利說道，鎮(zhèn)靜地看著弗農(nóng)姨父那張紫色的大臉，
'It's a lot to remember.
“太長(zhǎng)了，不好記啊。
I'll have to make it sound convincing, won't I?
我總要說得像那么回事吧？
What if I accidentally let something slip?'
要是我不小心說走了嘴呢？”
'You'll get the stuffing knocked out of you, won't you?'
“你想吃點(diǎn)苦頭，是嗎？”
roared Uncle Vernon, advancing on Harry with his fist raised.
弗農(nóng)姨父怒吼起來，舉著拳頭就沖哈利走過來。
But Harry stood his ground.
但哈利站在原地沒動(dòng)。
'Knocking the stuffing out of me won't make Aunt Marge forget what I could tell her,' he said grimly.
“如果我吃了苦頭，瑪姬姑媽就不會(huì)忘記我可能告訴她的事情了。”哈利陰郁地說。
Uncle Vernon stopped, his fist still raised, his face an ugly puce.
弗農(nóng)姨父停住了，拳頭仍舊舉在半空中，臉氣得成了紫褐色。
'But if you sign my permission form,' Harry went on quickly,
“但是，如果您在我的同意表上簽字，”哈利迅速地說下去，
'I swear I'll remember where I'm supposed to go to school, and I'll act like a Mug — like I'm normal and everything.'
“我發(fā)誓我會(huì)記住我是到哪里去上學(xué)的，而且我會(huì)像麻——像平常人一樣說話做事的。”
Harry could tell that Uncle Vernon was thinking it over, even if his teeth were bared and a vein was throbbing in his temple.
哈利可以看出弗農(nóng)姨父正在考慮，盡管他的牙齒露了出來，太陽(yáng)穴那里有一根血管在跳動(dòng)。
'Right,' he snapped finally.
“好吧，”他終于厲聲說，
'I shall monitor your behaviour carefully during Marge's visit.
“瑪姬在的時(shí)候，我會(huì)小心監(jiān)視你的行為的。
If, at the end of it, you've toed the line and kept to the story, I'll sign your ruddy form.'
如果，一直到最后，你守規(guī)矩，一直那么說，我就在你那倒霉的表上簽字。”
