第五講：小詞Should的省略

一、凡是由suggest, request, order, demand, propose, desire, command, insist等及物動詞所帶的賓語從句，其謂語部分的should可以省。
例句：The old peasant suggested that a reservoir (should) be built at the foot of the hill.
那位老農建議在這座山腳下修座水庫。
"The experiment had failed!" "I suggest you (should) try again."
“實驗失敗了！”“我提議再試一試。”
I desire that you (should) finish the task today.
我希望你今天完成這項任務。
They requested (demanded) that everyone (should) attend the meeting on time.
他們要求大家準時出席會議。
He proposed that we (should) visit their school next week.
他提議我們下周參觀他們的學校。
The captain ordered (commanded) that his soldiers (should) go on to the front.
上尉命令他的戰士繼續開往前線。
The boy insisted that he (should) go back alone.
這孩子堅持要一個人回去。
二、凡是由“It is (was) requested (ordered, suggested, desired, decided等) that...”引導的名詞性主語從句中，其謂語部分的should可以省略。
例句：It is requested that the cloth (should ) be woven at once.
下令馬上織這種布。
It is desired that the bridge (should) be built in two years.
要求兩年內建成這座橋。
It has been decided that the meeting (should) be held tomorrow.
已經決定會議明天舉行。
三、凡是由“It is (was) important (necessary) that...”引導的名詞性主語從句中，其謂語部分的should可以省略。
例句：It is very important that everyone (should) work well.
大家把工作做好是很重要的。
It is necessary that our college students (should) master a foreign language.
我們大學生掌握一門外語是很必要的。
四、凡是主句中有以suggest, proposal, order, idea, plan, news, motion, demand 等名詞后面所帶的表語從句或同位語從句中，其謂語部分的should可以省略。
例句：Xiao Wang's suggestion is that we (should) play basketball after school.
小王建議放學后打籃球。
My idea is that our class meeting (should) be held next week.
我的意見是下周開班會。
I agree to your motion that we (should) go swimming this afternoon.
我贊成你的建議，今天下午我們去游泳。
They are discussing your proposal that we (should) visit the Great Wall of China tomorrow.
你建議我們明天去參觀長城，他們正討論。
五、凡是由lest (以免；免得), in case (以防) 和 for fear that (生怕，唯恐) 引導的目的狀語從句中，其謂語部分should可以省略。
例句：Keep quiet in case you (should) interrupt him when he is busy.
要保持安靜，以防打擾他。
She is now studying for fear that she (should) fail in English.
她現在很勤 奮，生怕英語不及格。
You must wake him early lest he (should) be late for school.
你務必早點叫醒他，以免他上學遲到。
