According to authorities, a man died after jumping off a highway bridge on Monday night in New Jersey with his two young sons in his arms.

Police added that the man, 37-year-old John Spincken, was holding the boys, ages 1 and 3, when he leaped from the Wanaque Bridge on Interstate 287.

Spincken was pronounced dead at the scene while the boys were found nearby near the Wanaque River.
