The thing is, lots and lots of people propose that Wikipedia should accept ads.

And it is not an unreasonable position. I am opposed to it, but I am actually a moderate about it.

We desperately need to make sure that everyone on the planet has access to high quality information.

And slapping a “leaderboard " on Wikipedia to bring in short-term revenue might not be the best plan. (Or it might. But we need to think like adults about it.)
