Celebrate Teachers!
慶祝教師節！
Teachers are important. But what role do they play?
老師很重要， 可是他們扮演什么角色呢？
They help children learn.
他們協助孩童學習。
But they don't just help children with school work.
可是他們不只幫助兒童的學業，
They also help children become good, successful people.
也幫助兒童成為正直、成功的人。
World Teachers' Day is on October 5.
國際教師節是在十月五日，
But many countries celebrate teachers on another day.
可是許多國家都在其他的日子頌揚老師。
Some Chinese people celebrate on September 28.
有些中國人在九月二十八日慶祝教師節，
This day is Confucius' birthday.
這一天是孔子的生日，
He was a wise teacher.
他是一位有智慧且賢明的老師。
On Teachers' Day, students thank their teachers.
在教師節，學生會向老師表達感謝之意。
They may give them small gifts.
他們可能會送老師小禮物，
Some students give flowers.
有些學生會送花。
Some former students even go back to their old elementary school, junior high school or high school.
有些老學生甚至會回到他們以前的小學、國中或高中，
They visit their old teachers.
他們探望自己以前的老師。
If they can't visit, they may just send cards.
如果他們沒辦法親自探望，可能會寄卡片致意。
Some students stay friends with their old teachers for many years.
有些學生和自己以前的老師會保持許多年的友誼。

如何才算是好老師呢？
A good teacher loves to teach!
好老師熱愛教學！
They love their subject and love to share that joy with students.
他們熱愛自己教學的科目，也熱愛和學生分享學習那門科目的樂趣。
They find fun ways to do that, too.
他們也會找出有趣的方法來分享。
A good teacher's class is rarely boring!
好老師所教的課很少會讓人感到無聊！
A good teacher also cares about his or her students.
好老師也關心自己的學生。
They not only teach the class subject, but also teach students about life.
他們不僅教導課堂上的科目，也教導學生人生的課題。
