Kendra had a great summer.
But now, the new semester was starting.
At school, Kendra saw her friend Alison.
It was the first time since last semester.
"Hey, Alison. Let's go to the coffee shop when class is over.
We can talk about the summer and do homework."
That sounded like a good plan.
Alison had a lot to talk about, too.
But she also wanted to study.
After class, Kendra went to the coffee shop.
There was a table available in the back.
Kendra sat down.
She spent half an hour playing with her phone.
Then Alison showed up.
Kendra was happy, but the person working behind the counter was not.
Students came to the shop almost every day to catch up with each other.
But they often didn't buy anything.
Alison went to the counter and ordered a pie.
The person behind the counter was grateful and smiled.
Kendra moved her backpack, and Alison sat down.
After talking for a while, Alison realized something.
"Kendra, didn't you order something?
Do you plan on ordering anything?" she asked.
"Well…," Kendra started to say.
Alison was surprised by what Kendra did.
Should Alison tell Kendra to order something?
Or should she ignore the problem?
What would you do?
