About the Tercentennial
耶魯300年校慶
In 1701，the collegiate institution that would soon become well-known Yale was founded. To celebrate the 300th anniversary of this event, President Levin convened a group including faculty, students, administrators and Fellows of the Corporation to develop guiding principles for the programs of the Tercentennial Year. Every school，museum and academic center has responded by creating special exhibitions，publications or symposia.
1701年，一個學院機構成立了，并且不久便成為了舉世聞名的耶魯大學。為了慶祝建校300周年，萊文校長召集了全體教職員工、學生、管理人員，以及耶魯集團成員來討論300周年校慶活動的指導方針。各學院、博物館及學術中心都積極響應，設計了許多別具一格的展覽會、出版物，或座談會。
The official opening of the anniversary was Saturday, October 21，2000 when Yale opened its doors to the public. Thousands enjoyed this daylong celebration which included tours, exhibits, hands-on demonstrations and special events for children and families.
2000年10月21日，周年紀念慶祝活動正式開始。就在這天，耶魯大學向公眾敞開了大門。成千上萬的人們參與到一整天的慶祝活動中來，有游行、展覽、自制作品展示，還有為孩子及家庭成員設計的特殊活動。
The events continued with the Alumni Leadership Convocation April 19-22, 2001. The weekend allowed alumni representatives to "Go to Yale" again and choose from an array of lectures, panels and workshops. Over 1,400 attendees chose among 50 different sessions, which included topics as diverse as modem business ethics, cartooning, Yale's rowing history, sexual harassment law, as well as a tutorial on how to conduct the end of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony.
活動一直進行著，并在2001年4月19日到22日舉辦了一次校友領導人集會。這個周末，校友代表們再次回到耶魯，參與各種講座座談會及研討會。出席人數超過1400人，共涉及50場會議，包含形形色色的議題，如現代商業道德、漫畫行業、耶魯大學劃船項目的歷史、性騷擾相關法律，還有一場如何指揮貝多芬的第九交響曲的結尾部分的專門指導會。
Another important activity was the Yale Women Faculty Forum. With staff support from the Tercentennial Office, a group of faculty had convened the Women Faculty Forum for the Tercentennial. The forum consisted of faculty who had been meeting to insure that women have a strong presence in the Tercentennial and beyond. That year marked both the 300'1' anniversary of the founding of Yale and the 30th anniversary of the first graduating class of women from Yale College. To mark the transformations brought about by women of Yale, the forum sponsored a series of events during the Tercentennial year.
另一個比較重要的活動是耶魯大學女性教職工論壇。在300周年紀念策劃委員的大力支持下，不少教員參與到這個論壇，他們一直強調在300周年校慶期間女性教員參與的重要性。那一年不僅是耶魯大學建校300周年紀念，也是耶魯第一屆女子班畢業的30周年紀念。為了突出這些年來耶魯女性所帶來的巨大變化，這個論壇發起了一系列的紀念活動。
The yearlong anniversary culminated the weekend of October 5-7. On the afternoon of October 5, members of the Yale community, returning alumni, and representatives from sister institutions processed to Yale's Cross Campus for a convocation commemorating the University's founding. In the afternoon, some other events took place at the Yale Bowl and lasted long into the night.
持續了一年的慶祝活動在10月5日到7日的周末進人尾聲。10月5日，耶魯大學社區成員、返校校友，以及來自姐妹院校的代表們列隊前行，來到耶魯的十字形校園， 參加紀念耶魯建校的集會。下午，在耶魯大型運動場又舉辦了其他活動，一直持續到晚上。
