Mr. E Shoots and Scores
投籃得分
My partner, Mr. F, played basketball with some other policemen today.
我的伙伴F先生今天和其他幾個(gè)警員打了籃球，
His team was really good.
他的隊(duì)伍很厲害。
The teams made a deal.
比賽的兩個(gè)球隊(duì)打了個(gè)賭，
The team that lost would buy the other team dinner.
輸球的隊(duì)伍必須請(qǐng)贏(yíng)球的隊(duì)伍吃晚餐。
He wasn't happy when he came back to his desk.
但他回到他的辦公桌之時(shí)，心情并不好。
"You lost?" I asked.
你們輸球啦？我問(wèn)。
"Yes. Mr. J's team won.
是啊，J先生的球隊(duì)贏(yíng)了。
But they cheated. I'm sure of it," said Mr. F.
可是我很確定他們作弊，F(xiàn)先生說(shuō)，
"Can you help me prove it, Mr. E?"
E先生，你可以幫我證明這一點(diǎn)嗎？
Mr. F told me about the game.
F先生向我說(shuō)明了球賽經(jīng)過(guò)。
His team didn't score until the end of the first half.
他的隊(duì)伍直到上半場(chǎng)即將結(jié)束之際才總算得了分。
They were shooting well, but the ball wouldn't go through the net.
他們射籃射得很準(zhǔn)，但球卻都進(jìn)不了籃網(wǎng)。
It was very strange.
這件事實(shí)在很奇怪，
He couldn't see anything over the net.
他看不出籃框上有任何東西。
"But we finally scored.
可是我們總算得分了，
Then the second half was fine," Mr. F ended.
后來(lái)下半場(chǎng)就沒(méi)有問(wèn)題了。F先生最后這么說(shuō)。
"We need to take a look at the court," I said.
我們必須去球場(chǎng)看看，我說(shuō)。
Nothing seemed strange about the court.
球場(chǎng)看起來(lái)沒(méi)有任何古怪之處。
Then we found a small piece of clear, thin plastic under a net.
接著，我們?cè)谝粋€(gè)籃網(wǎng)底下發(fā)現(xiàn)了一小片透明的塑料薄膜。
"They put plastic over your net," I said.
他們?cè)谀銈兊幕@框上貼了保鮮膜，
"The ball tore it the first time you scored."
我說(shuō)， 你們第一次得分，就是因?yàn)榍驂浩屏吮ｕr膜。
But how could we prove it?
可是我們要如何證明呢？
Then I saw a trash can near the court.
接著，我看到球場(chǎng)邊有一個(gè)垃圾桶，
A big piece of plastic was inside.
里面有一大片保鮮膜。
"Mr. F," I said, "take this to Mr. J."
F先生，我說(shuō)：把這個(gè)拿去給J先生吧。
