OSI Group, the U.S.-based meat supplier now at the center of a food safety scandal in China, apologises to its customers on Wednesday.

The company has issued a statement on its website.

It states it is appalled and is investigating the matter via a team of experts to work with the local team.

Its Shanghai-based Husi unit was exposed processing expired meat, supplying to vendors including Maconald's and Pizza Hut.

Shanghai authorities have sealed over 100 tons of its products, with 5 senior officials of the company detained.
