1.desire作名詞時后一般接不定式，也有接of或for和動名詞，如a desire to go，a desire of/or going。前者比后者普遍；

2.desire作動詞時，后只可接不定式，不可接動名詞。

3.desire作動詞且后面接表示人的詞和不定式時，指“請求”，有時有“愿望，期望”的意思。但desire在表示“請求”時，比ask或request來的正式。
