A Special Football Match 一場特殊的比賽

Mike was late for school. He said to his teacher, Mr. Black, "Excuse me for my coming late, sir. I watched a football match in my dream."

"Why did it make you late?" inquired the teacher.

"Because neither team could win the game, so it lasted a long time." replied Mike.

1.excuse me

1．excuse me：雖然可以譯為“對不起”，但它實際上是一種禮貌的語言形式，主要表達講話者對受話者的敬重。下列場合較為常見：

(1)向陌生人問路，請求別人幫忙時。如：

Excuse me, can you tell me where the post office is?

(2)需要打斷別人的談話，或要對別人剛講的內容提出反對意見時，為了不顯得粗魯無禮，常用excuse me。如：

Excuse me, may I get in a word?

(3)因故中途離席是中斷和別人的談話時。如：

Excuse me, but I must go home now．

(4)用于擠車、擠人或在別人前面挑選東西時。如：

Excuse me, may I buy the thing before you?

(5)在表示請求許可時，我們也常用excuse me。如：

Excuse me, but can I sit here?

注意：回答Excuse me時，應該說：That’s all right．Certainly或Never mind等。
