A Gentle Reminder 委婉提醒

Having been married a long time, my husband sometimes needs a gentle reminder of a special occasion. On the morning of our 35th anniversary, we were sitting at the breakfast table when I hinted, "Honey, do you realize that we've been sitting in these same two seats for exactly 35 years?"　　

婚后已久，我丈夫往往在一個特別事情上需要委婉的提醒。在我們結婚35周年紀念的早上，我們正坐在早餐桌旁，我暗示道：“親愛的，你意識到我們在這兩個相同的座位上已坐了整整35年了嗎？” 　

Putting down the newspaper, he looked straight at me and said, "So, you want to switch seats?"

1.reminder of

通常我們所說的是remind of

remind sb of sth = 使某人想起某事

remind sb of doing sth = 提醒某人做過某事（暗示動作已發生）

remind sb to do sth = 提醒某人去做某事（暗示動作尚未發生）

reminder：n.令人回憶起……的東西；提醒……的東西；（告知該做某事的）通知單；提示信

2.looked straight

looked straight表示直直的看著，go straight表示直走，在給別人指引方向時經常會用到。

3.switch

switch是打開的意思，switch on/off 打開，關閉。

這要看是什么樣的開關。若是上下扳的開關，就用switch on或off;若是旋轉方式的開關，就用turn on或off.
