Japan has begun the selection process for its new ambassador to China after its recently appointed ambassador Shi-nichi Nishi-miya died Sunday in Tokyo.
自日本近日任命的駐華大使西宮伸一16日在首都東京病逝后，日本已經開始進入新駐華大使的選派程序。
Some officials have been reported as saying the candidates for that position are Mi-toji Yabu-naka, the current Japanese Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs in charge of administration and Shi-ge-kazu Sato, the current Japanese ambassador to Thailand.
據有些官員透露，新的繼任人包括外務省前事務次官藪中三十二和現任駐泰國大使佐藤重和。
Yabu-naka served as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau Director-General. He has been a diplomat for nearly forty years. Sato joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1974. In August 2006, he was appointed Consul-General of Japan in Hong Kong.
藪中現年64歲，曾任外務省亞洲大洋洲局局長、外務審議官，最高官至事務次官，相當于副外長，是外務省級別最高的“官僚”，即公務員。佐藤現年62歲，曾任外務省中國課課長、亞大局審議官和日本駐香港總領事，是外務省“中國幫”一員。
But reports say the confirmation of the new ambassador to China may take some time, as it needs the approval of China. And the new ambassador must take up the post within 40 days after his appointment. Some reports also say the government has been considering to postpone the term of the current Japanese Ambassador to China Ui-chiro Niwa.
但是，有報道稱新駐華大使人選的最終確定可能需要一段時間，因為這需要征得中國的同意。而且新的駐華大使必須在獲任命后40天內赴任。還有報道稱，日本政府已經在考慮延長現任駐華大使丹羽的任期。
