醉酒

One day, a father and his little son were going home. At this age, the boy was interested in all kinds of things and was always asking questions.

一天，父親與小兒子一道回家。這個孩子正處于那種對什么事都很感興趣的年齡，老是有提不完的問題。

Now, he asked, "What's the meaning of the word 'Drunk', dad?"

他向父親發問道：“爸爸，‘醉’字是什么意思？”

"Well, my son," his father replied , "look, there are standing two policemen. If I regard the two policemenasfour then I am drunk."

“唔，孩子，”父親回答說，“你瞧那兒站著兩個警察。如果我把他們看成了四個，那么我就算醉了。”

"But, dad," the boy said, " there's only ONE policeman!"

“可是，爸爸，”孩子說，“那兒只有一個警察呀！”

1.all kinds of things

kind of后接單數和復數名詞都對。如：This kind of book=this kind of books

其后的謂語動詞的單復數要根據kind of，如果Kind不加s，其謂語動詞就用第三人稱單數。

All kinds of后接名詞復數，其后謂語動詞接復數。

辨析一下三種回復：reply，answer，respond

answer“回答”、“答復”，可指口頭或書面。

reply“回答”、“答復”，正式用語，可指口頭或書面，有經過考慮后較為正式地作出回答的含義。

respond“回答”、“答復”，可指口頭或書面做出回答，或以具體動作表示答復。

3.I regard the two policemen as four

regard...as的意思是把…認作；當做；看成；看做

regard+sb/sth+as+名詞

eg：Regard each failure as a stimulus to further efforts.把每次失利看成對進一步努力的激勵。
