"I gave it to a poor old woman," he answered.

"You're a good boy," said the motherproudly. "Here are two cents more. But whyareyou sointerested inthe old woman?"

“你真是個好孩子，”媽媽驕傲地說。“再給你兩分錢。可你為什么對那位老太太那么感興趣呢？”

"She is the one who sells the candy."

“她是個賣糖果的。”

知識點講解：

1.asked his mother for two cents.

ask for最基本的意思是請求，要，在這句話中就是取的這個意思。其實ask for還有其他意思，我們一起來分析一下。

1．request；ask to be given請求；向…要

eg:The workers are asking for an increase in pay．工人在請求增加工資。

2．demand；ask to see要求（見）

eg:Here's a gentleman asking for the manager．這里有位先生要求見經(jīng)理。

3．run the risk of sth．招惹；自找（麻煩）

eg:He is foolish to behave in that way；he is asking for trouble．他那樣做是愚蠢的，是自找麻煩。

2.proudly

proudly在這里是指媽媽的態(tài)度，為自己的兒子如此有愛心而感到驕傲。

副詞

1.得意揚揚地,夸耀地

She proudly displayed her collection of ornaments.

她得意揚揚地擺列出她的飾品集。

be interested in是指對...感興趣，可以理解為一個系表結(jié)構(gòu)，有系動詞加形容詞構(gòu)成。
