兩只小鳥

Teacher:Here are two birds,one is a swallow,the other is a sparrow.Now who can tell us which is which?

老師：這里有兩只小鳥，一只是燕子，另一只是麻雀，誰能告訴我們哪只是燕子，哪只是麻雀嗎？

Student:I can't point out but i know the answer.

學生：我不會分辨但我知道答案。

Teacher:Please tell us.

老師：那請你告訴我們。

Student:The swallow is beside the sparrow,and the sparrow is beside the swallow.

學生：燕子旁邊的是麻雀，麻雀旁邊的是燕子。

Notes:

1.the other is a sparrow

other,the other,others,another

A.other可作形容詞或代詞，做形容詞時，意思是“別的，其他”，泛指“其他的（人或物）”。如：

Do you have any other question(s)?

你還有其他問題嗎？

B.the other指兩個人或物中的一個時，只能用the other，不能用another，此時的other作代詞。如：

He has two daughters. One is a nurse, the other is a worker.

他有兩個女兒，一個是護士，另一個是工人。

C.others是other的復數形式，泛指“另外幾個”，“其余的”。在句中可作主語、賓語。如：

Some of us like singing and dancing, others go in for sports.

我們一些人喜歡唱歌和跳舞，其余的從事體育活動。

D.another=an+ other，既可作形容詞，也可作代詞，只能用于三個或更多的人或物，泛指同類事物中的三者或三者以上的“另一個”，只能代替或修飾單數可數名詞。如：

I don’t like this one. Please show me another.

我不喜歡這一個，請給我看看另一個。

2.I can't point out

point out:指出，把注意力引向…；提示；點明；指明

eg:I must point out that delay is unwise.我必須指出拖延是不明智的。
