The Japanese media has said the attackers on its ambassador to China Uichilo Niwa's car, have been detained. The number detained is not yet known. The Japanese ambassador said he believes this is a sole incident, and hopes it will not hinder bilateral ties between Japan and China.

Niwa added the relations of the two countries is already under pressure, and Japan would like to deal with the issue calmly. Police in Beijing have carried out investigations, and the attackers could face charges for property damage.
