【詞義辨析】
company,corporation,firm
company: 多指生產(chǎn)或銷售產(chǎn)品的公司、商號(hào)，也可指經(jīng)辦服務(wù)性項(xiàng)目的公司。
corporation: 多指一個(gè)人擁有或多人聯(lián)辦的大公司，也指在其它地區(qū)或國(guó)家擁有分公司的公司。
firm: 含義廣泛，可指公司、商行或商號(hào)。規(guī)模可大可小，經(jīng)營(yíng)、管理的人員可多可少。
【詞語用法】
company作名詞指“客人”時(shí)前面不加冠詞a或the.
We had company at dinner.
company 作名詞指“公司”時(shí)，可用作單數(shù)或復(fù)數(shù)，不過存在and時(shí)必須要用復(fù)數(shù)形式。
The cinema company is/are holding a meeting.
Smith and Company are holding a meeting.
company作名詞指“公司”時(shí)，前面有無and意義不同，如Smith和其他人合辦的公司叫Smith and Company，這種情況下company前不加冠詞the，也可以叫The
Smith Company。
只要是沒有and 或&符號(hào)的，前面用The或不用The都可以。有時(shí)有多個(gè)姓，如Smith, Jones, and Company, Smith and Jones Company, The Smith and Jones
Company(這里and后面并不直接跟Company，可以加冠詞the）。

【詞語用法】
allow有“給”的意思，后可以加雙賓語。
He allows his son ￥10 a week.
permit和allow兩詞的用法和意思相近。
兩者可以通用，均指“允許”，且后面都可加賓語加不定式。
Allow/Permit me to congratulate you on your success.
當(dāng)不存在賓語的時(shí)候，兩詞后加動(dòng)名詞。
We do not allow/permit smoking in the kitchen.
allow和permit還常用于被動(dòng)語態(tài)。
Smoking is not allowed/permitted in the kitchen.
但allow可與副詞搭配使用，而permit不行。
She wouldn't allow me in.
此外，allow有“容許，并不禁止”的意思，而permit指“準(zhǔn)許”，比allow更正式化。
