首先，let's have a review. 現在我們進入今天的復習環節。在第22課中的第一講中我們學到了用地道的美國街頭語來表示當我們情緒處于煩惱，壓抑，郁悶，氣憤等等不好的情緒之時，我們要振作起來，抖擻精神，控制自己的情緒，可以用“Get a grip!”這個地道美國街頭語來勉勵自己和勸慰自己，忘掉過去，重新開始。就如我們課后習題中的一句話：強者控制自己的情緒，弱者讓情緒控制自己。Let's be a strong man!

【今日課堂詳說】

那么還有不少的美國街頭語可以表示“get a grip”的意思，今天Juliet就和大家一起來分享。

第一、我們可以說get a hold of oneself。我們來看2個典型例句： 1. I have been caught short and can hardly live from hand to mouth, so I am on thorns. However, I know I should get a grip and get on with it. 我一直以來生活都拮據，幾乎不能糊口，我一直焦慮不安。但是我知道自己得振作精神，繼續撐下去。2. A good holiday should make him get a hold of himself and be out of this feeling of sadness. 好好地度一個假，會使他振作精神，走出悲傷的情緒。

注解：1. Be caught short意思是生活拮據。2. From hand to mouth意思是僅僅能糊口地。例如：During the famine people just lived from hand to mouth. 在饑荒時期，人們過得勉強維持生計的生活。They never saved any money, but lived from hand to mouth. 他們從來沒有節余下錢，而掙了錢僅夠買吃的。3. On thorns意思是焦慮不安。例如：I was sitting on thorns. 我如坐針氈。While the teacher was questioning the pupils about the broken window, the boy who did the mischief sat on thorns. 當老師盤問學生們有關打破窗子的事情時，那闖了禍的男孩如坐針氈。4. Get on with是繼續干的意思。例如：Be positive about your future and get on with living a normal life.對你的未來的采取積極的態度，繼續過著正常的生活。When you feel the need to feel frustration, go ahead and be fully frustrated. Then, be done with it and get on with making positive progress. 當你覺得有必要去感受一下受挫的感覺，那就徹徹底底去感受吧。體驗完后，然后重振精神，繼續向前邁進。

第二、我們可以說pull oneself together。我們來看兩個典型例句：1. I have to pull myself together to face the whole board of directors. 我得打起精神來面對整個董事會。2. They should be aware of their own weaknesses, pull himself together and know how to bring out the best in themselves. 他們要意識到自己的弱點，控制自己的情緒和知道如何展示自我最好的一面。

注解：1. Bring out是展示，使......顯示的意思。如果說要顯示或展示出某人的某些方面的事情，就要和介詞in連用，即為這個短語結構：bring out something in somebody。例如：Now, I concede I bring out the worst in you. 我承認我確實讓你把最壞的一面展示出來了。My best friend is the one who bring out the best in me. 我最好的朋友就是讓我展示最好的自我的那個人。2. 董事會的表達是 board of directors。3. Be aware of是“意識到”“覺察到”的意思。例如：I was aware of a certain constraint on their part when they were in my presence. 我覺察到我在時他們有些拘束。Their sudden attack made us more aware of the danger around us. 他們突然的攻擊使我們更加注意我們周圍的危險。We are fully aware of the gravity of the situation. 我們十分清楚形勢的嚴峻性。

第三、我們可以說pull oneself up by one's own bootstraps。這是一個非常非常經典的美國街頭語。它的意思是（受到挫敗后）通過自己的努力重新振作起來（出人頭地或獲得成功）。我們呢來看一個例句：You have just released from jail, some of them are sure to look down upon you, but you should pull yourself up by your own bootstraps to improve that you have turned over a new leaf. 你剛剛從監獄釋放出來，很多人看不起你，但是你要自己振作起來，證實自己已經改過自新了。

注解：1. Look down upon是看不起的意思。例如：I can't stand been look down upon!我不能忍受被別人看扁！We shall never look down upon manual labor. 我們永遠都不應該輕視體力勞動。The book is useful. Don't look down upon it.別瞧不起這本書，它有它的用途。2. Turn over a new leaf 意思是改過自新，翻開了（生活）新的一頁。Now John has decided to turn over a new leaf and go to school on time every day.現在約翰決定改過自新，每天準時上學。He has been very lazy but he is going to turn over a new leaf and work hard. 他以前一直很懶，但他將改過自新，努力工作。

第四、我們可以說take a grip on oneself。我們來看2個例句：1. I told him to take a grip on himself and to remember that he was sent to university to work, not to play. 我告訴他要控制住自己,記住他是來大學讀書,而不是來玩的。2. Take a firm grip on yourself! Do you remember the last time you has used keys? Surely they must be here somewhere ? you can't really have lost them! 冷靜一點！你還記得最后一次什么時候用過鑰匙的？它們肯定在附近某個地方，不會找不到的。

【課堂總結】

今天我們學到了四個地道的與get a grip同意的地道美國街頭語——get a hold of oneself，pull oneself together，pull oneself up by one's own bootstraps，take a grip on oneself。同時，我們在例句中可以積累一下非常有用的短語：look down on(upon) sb/sth（輕視，小看，輕蔑，瞧不起某物或某人），turn over a now leaf（改過自新），be caught short（經濟拮據），from hand to mouth（僅僅能糊口地），on thorns（焦慮不安的），sit on thorns （坐如針氈）, bring out sth in sb（展示出某人的某方面的事情），be aware of （意識到；覺察到）。
