上回我們就說到cheer up也是振作抖擻精神的意思。今天我們繼續來盤點。今天我們要說的是spirit和動詞、副詞連用表示cheer up的意思。
2. lift one's spirits up
Eg. You have got to do something fun and exciting to lift your spirits up. 你必須要去做一些有趣的、讓你興奮的事情，這樣讓你振作起來。I began to doze off and lift my spirits up sharp. 我開始迷迷糊糊睡去了，立刻又驚醒過來。
注解1：要修飾不定代詞，修飾的詞放于不定代詞的后面。注解2： Doze off的意思是打瞌睡。Eg. Why did you doze off again when you're at work? 你怎么又在上班時間打瞌睡？He looks tired all the time. And he would doze off in class. 他看起來總是很疲倦而且經常在課上打瞌睡。注解3：Sharp在例句中是作副詞用，意思是突然地，急劇地，相當于suddenly。Eg. “突然停住”就是“stop sharp”。“向左急轉彎” 就是“turn sharp left”。
聯想1：pluck up one's spirits Eg. You must pluck up your spirit to action. 你必須振作精神，行動起來。We should pluck up our spirits and make a greater effort to achieve success. 我們應該振作精神，為取得成功而更加努力。此外，Pluck up courage意思是鼓起勇氣。Eg. I shall have to pluck up courage and speak to her about it. 我得鼓起勇氣跟她談這件事。He could not pluck up enough courage to ask her to marry him. 他鼓不起足夠的勇氣向她求婚。
聯想2：buoy one's spirits up Eg. The party did little to buoy up her spirits. 這次聚會并沒有讓她振作多少。注解：Buoy 的發音是[bɔi]，意思是鼓勵。（To Be Continued）
